Khamra Oud

207 reviews

Cinnamon bark and nutmeg first, then sticky dates and toasted praline pulled through creamy vanilla. Agarwood and myrrh sit underneath so it never tips into candy. It smells like a kitchen in December — warm enough that people lean in rather than back.

Smells like my grandmother’s house at Eid — dates, cinnamon, something smoky underneath. I did not expect a bottle to make me homesick.

I am not a gourmand person. This one got me anyway. It is dessert, but there is wood under it, so it never feels childish.

Ordered the sample in July, which was a mistake — far too warm for summer where I live. Reordered in November and it made complete sense.

Frequently asked questions

It is genuinely sweet, but it is not flat. Myrrh and agarwood sit under the dates and praline and keep pulling it back toward resin. If you like gourmands but find most of them cloying, this is usually the one that works.

From hour six onward. The spice and sugar do the talking early; then myrrh cuts in and agarwood comes up dry behind it. By hour nine it is a wood scent with vanilla glazed over the top.

You can, with a very light hand — one pass, low on the wrist. It was built for cold weather and it roughly doubles in strength above thirty degrees. Most people who buy it in July fall for it in November.

Less than you think. One pass on each wrist is a full day for most people, and the oil keeps developing for twelve hours, so judge it at hour three rather than at hour zero.
